I need some topics for my major project in m tech.
My branch is Geotechnical engineering. Please suggest some topic for it
Good geotechnical research topics are found in the following areas:

1. Improvement of bearing capacity and friction of soil reinforcement
2. Reinforced slopes and walls
3. Soil improvement techniques using basal reinforcement, wick drains, stone columns, compaction piles, vibrofloation
4. Seismic analysis of reinforced structures of soils, embankments and reinforced embankments
5. Problems of liquefaction and its corrective measures
6. Marine geotechnical structures such as piers, artificial islands, gravity platforms on the high seas
Several research approaches to these topics may be:

1. Experimentation - Physical modeling as a model scale test or large scale test or centrifugal modeling. Depends on the facility available in your university
2. Numerical Modeling - One should be well versed in finite element software such as Abaqus, Plaxis or Flac. Knowledge of Python will help to write user subroutines.
3. Artificial Intelligence Based - You should be well versed in R or MATLAB. You can develop new empirical relationships between the various soil parameters based on previous research papers. There is much scope for it.
4. Reliability Analysis: You can use Excel, R or MATLAB to develop geotechnical designs based on reliability and also to develop customized software for design.
