Fuzzy Logic Applications in Wireless Communications
Various areas pertaining to wireless communication systems utilize fuzzy logic. It is very much useful in modeling the problems in which all the inputs are not known or are impossible to obtain. The fuzzy logic can be easily applied to non-linear and time-variant systems and address the complex problems in this domain. Reduction in complexity and robustness can be achieved by the use of fuzzy logic. Human expert knowledge is incorporated into a rule-based framework by the fuzzy logic. With learning algorithms, the fuzzy control parameters can be obtained from the sample data. Neural networks, evolutionary computation techniques etc maybe combined with the parameters obtained using the fuzzy logic.
The fuzzy logic applications in channel estimation, channel equalization and decoding are discussed. Channel estimation accurately tracks the channel and defines its variations over time and space. The fuzzy channel estimation methods id used because of the face that the fuzzy methods do not require an exact model of the channel to be known. blind channel estimation techniques and pilot assisted channel estimation are the two different methods for channel parameter estimation of each subcarrier. In an OFDM system the TSK method is used for pilot assisted channel estimation.
