INTRODUCTION :
(Specifying the problem)



Many systems were implemented in some countries between 1980 and 1990 in which the systems were equipped with automatic toll gates which are manually operated through switches.

In present times, a little bit of improvement is done in past projects like , along with automatic doors there is the facility of counting the cars passed and toll collected. But the information gathered is not much informative because it is an all together collected one and don’t give exact information of the vehicles passed.

So we thought of making an automatic toll tax which has many features and it will be helpful to the society in many ways like:
• Past details of the taxes paid by the cars owners can be collected.
• Stolen cars can be easily traced.
• Information related to how many cars passed and toll collected can be seen in a sorted manner……etc


Micro – Controller (89C51) : The AT89C51 is a low-power, high-performance CMOS 8-bit microcomputer with 4K bytes of Flash programmable and erasable read only memory (EPROM). The Atmel AT89C51 is a powerful microcontroller which provides
a highly-flexible and cost-effective solution to many embedded control applications.


Instrumentation Amplifer : The electrical signal output is typically in the order of a few mill volts and requires amplification by an instrumentation amplifier before it can be used.

ADC (MCP 3203) : Amplified original signal applied to the ADC for further operations.

LCD (16 x 2) : In port 0 LCD display is connected. Because it will decline prices, ability to display no., characters and graphics. Ease to programming for characters and graphics.




Load cell : It is pressure transducer. Output of transducer is in mV applied to signal conditioning system. A load cell is an electronic device that is used to convert a force into an electrical signal. This conversion is indirect and happens in two stages. Through a mechanical arrangement, the force being sensed deforms a strain gauge. The strain gauge converts the deformation (strain) to electrical signals. A load cell usually consists of four strain gauges in a Wheatstone bridge configuration. Load cells of one or two strain gauges are also available.
