MODERN CONTROL TECHNIQUES

PID CONTROLLER
The Proportional value determines the
reaction to the current error.
The Derivative determines the reaction to the
rate at which the error has been changing.
The Integral determines the reaction based
on the sum of recent errors.
Other techniques of a PID controller.

DIRECT POLE PLACEMENT
For MIMO systems, pole placement can be performed mathematically using a State space representation of the open-loop system and calculating a feedback matrix assigning poles in the desired positions.


OPTIMAL CONTROL
The control signal optimizes a certain cost index.
Two types of control methods namely Model Predictive Control (MPC) and Linear-Quadratic-Gaussian control (LQG).

ADAPTIVE CONTROL
Uses online identifications of process parameters, thereby obtaining strong robustness properties.

INTELLIGENT CONTROL
Intelligent control use various AI computing approaches like neural networks, Bayesian probability, fuzzy logic, machine learning, evolutionary computation and genetic algorithms to control a dynamic system.


FUZZY LOGIC CONTROLLERS


Fuzzy Logic (FL) is a multi-valued logic that allows intermediate values to be defined between conventional evaluations like yes/no, true/false, black/white, etc.

FL is a problem-solving control system methodology.

Implementation in systems ranging from simple, small, embedded micro-controllers to large, networked, multi-channel PC or workstation-based data acquisition and control systems.

FL provides a simple way to arrive at a definite conclusion based upon vague, ambiguous, imprecise, noisy, or missing input information.

FL's approach to control problems mimics how a person would make decisions, only much faster.

processing.
Home appliances, Video games, Pattern recognition.
Microprocessors and microcontrollers.
