DSP IN FINGERPRINT RECONITION

[attachment=18815]

Our Objective

To read finger prints through scanners and use image processing to match samples.
Acquisition of fingerprint Images is
performed by two techniques
– Off-line sensing
– Live-scan sensing

Live scan fingerprint sensing

The most important part of a fingerprint scanner is the sensor.
Most of the scanners belong to one of the 2 families
Optical sensors
Solid state sensors

Why Capacitance Scanner?

The main advantage of a capacitive scanner is that it requires a real fingerprint-type shape, rather than the pattern of light and dark that makes up the visual impression of a fingerprint. This makes the system harder to trick.
Additionally, since they use a semiconductor chip rather than a CCD unit, capacitive scanners tend to be more compact that optical devices.

The Processor

The heart of this project is IMAGE PROCESSING.
Our problem at this stage is to formulate the necessary algorithm and code to carry out Image Processing to achieve results.
The entire project will be implemented on a ‘DSP Board’.
