Call Handling in AMPS
When a call to a cellular subscriber originates from telephone in PSTN it arrive at MSC.
A paging msg is sent out with subscriber mobile identification number (MIN) simultaneously on every base station (BS) forward control channel .
It will respond with an ACK transmission on reverse control channel.
Upon receiving the subscriber ACK the MCS directs the BS to assign a forward control channel & reverse voice channel pair to subscriber unit.
Frames in AMPS
Forward Control Channel(FCC):
The FCC is primarily used by BS to broadcast page and locate mobile subscriber units using control info.
The type of msg is:
Mobile control msg: Commands for mobile to do task.
Overhead msg sequence: Contain system parameter info.
