Automatic Identification (Auto-ID) systems have become commonplace in access control and security applications, in industries requiring the tracking of products through the supply chain or manufacturing process, and in industries requiring the identification of products at the point of sale or point of service. Perhaps the most widely recognized Auto-ID system is the bar code system developed during the early 1970’s. More recently, Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) systems have begun to find greater use in automatic identification applications.
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems use radio frequency to identify, locate and track people, assets, and animals. RFID systems consist of Radio Frequency (RF) tags, or transponders, and RF tag readers, or transceivers. The transponders (tags) themselves typically consist of integrated circuits connected to an antenna. The use of silicon-based microchips enables a wide range of functionality to be integrated into the transponder. Typical functionality ranges from large read/write memories to integrated temperature sensors to encryption and access control functionality. The transceivers query the transponders for information stored on them. This information can range from static identification numbers to user written data to sensory data.
This project aims to develop a device that can be fitted in the shopping trolleys which reads the price of purchased items and displays the total amount in the LCD display attached to it. In the present situation, the customer has to stand in the long queue in the billing counters to know the total amount of purchased items. This process consumes much time and causes uneasiness to the customer. Also the customer cannot purchase the items based on the amount of money he has. The new system avoids the above difficulties by displaying the total amount of purchase when the item is put in the trolley and thereby the user can limit the purchase. This project is implemented using the innovative technology of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and Wireless communication. Each item in the shop will be provided with an RFID tag. This transponder (tag) stores the unique id number of the item and related information. The information consists of the item name, price details etc. When interrogated by a reader, it responds with that data over a radio frequency link. The readers are fixed in the shopping trolleys.

Abstract
Everyone knows the importance of time in this competition world and no one wants to waste their time in doing regular things. If we consider any shopping mall we have to wait much time for billing even though you purchase little things and we are not aware of cost of the product that we wanted to purchase. With the help of this project we reduce the billing time and customers can know the exact cost of the products that they purchased before billing so that they can do their shopping within their budget. RFID is the key technology that we are using in this project

The objective of this project is to improve the speed of purchase by using RFID. This project is designed to use the RFID based security system application in the shopping trolley.
This project is used in shopping complex for purchase the products. In this project RFID card is used as security access for product. If the product is put in to the trolley means it will shows the amount and also the total amount. But in this project RFID card is used for accessing the products. So this project improves the security performance and also the speed.
RFID is the special type wireless card which has inbuilt the embedded chip along with loop antenna. The inbuilt embedded chip represents the 12 digit card number. RFID reader is the circuit which generates 125KHZ magnetic signal. This magnetic signal is transmitted by the loop antenna connected along with this circuit which is used to read the RFID card number.
In this project RFID card is used as security access card. So each product has the individual RFID card which represents the product name. RFID reader is interfaced with microcontroller. Here the microcontroller is the flash type reprogrammable microcontroller in which we already programmed with card number. The microcontroller is interfaced with keypad.
