Introduction
Purpose of the System Design Document The purpose of this document is to lay out the design of the department academic information system which is being designed for CSED, NITC. This document will discuss the type of data that the System will process as well as the way the data will be stored, processed and reported. This document will also show the task to be done in Object-Oriented manner, starting with a high-level approach down to various in-depth details. 1.2 Scope of the Application The application I am developing for CSED is for academic purpose, which can be used to keep track of student and staff performance and to help department through various updates. For now CSED is the only department that the system will be used for, and at later time may be used for whole NITC. The system will have multiple tasks that it will perform to calculate staff and students performance. CSED™s benefit from the ˜AISYS™ will be the ease of calculating and keeping track of the performance of the staff and students starting from admission time onwards. This application will allow them to easily run statistical reports on individual students or an entire dept. The dept will also be able to easily print out or view the students™ final grades. The dept will be able to navigate easily through a GUI interface, which will allow them to execute update, inserts, query, and calculate the grades and student information of the students in his class. 1.3 Overview This document contains an overview that explains the system design. There are also sections on the architecture of the AISYS as well as a data design, which will show the major components of the application and the data storage to be used, respectively. The computer specifications that the client needs to run the application will also be discussed. Lastly this document will serve as a reference for both the programmers as well as the client. 1.4 Constraints Solution Constraints This program is to be designed using JAVA with a back-end database utilizing ORACLE“9i. The software is to be designed and implemented for use on a WIN-XP, LINUX platform.
