Automotive Speed Control of Vehicles in Pedestrian Crossing Zones

[attachment=25493]

A pedestrian crossing or crosswalk is a designated point on a road at which are employed to assist pedestrians wishing to cross. They are designed to keep pedestrians together where they can be seen by motorists, and where they can cross most safely across the flow of vehicular traffic. Unfortunately, pedestrians have no such safety features and there is nothing that can protect them from sustaining the full brunt of the force of the car accident. Hence we propose speed control of vehicles in pedestrian crossing which brings significant reduction in vehicle-pedestrian conflicts.

Existing System:
There are manual vehicle monitoring system available, which is not an efficient system as it’s not at all possible to monitor the entire vehicle. Thus it leads to unavoidable accidental conditions.

Proposed System:

In order to prevent the accidents near pedestrian crossing, the driver should know that the pedestrian crossing ahead in the road. For that some of the sign boards are kept in the roadside but some of the drivers missed out. To ensure this RF transmitter kept in every pedestrian crossing zone.
Whenever vehicle approach the pedestrian crossing zone, the signal is received by RF receiver from the pedestrian zones. The LCD shows the alert message in vehicles and vehicle speed is automatically reduce to prefixed speed limit. Once if the vehicles reach out of the pedestrian area (lost the signal from the RF transmitter), it comes back to its original speed. Thereby loss of accidents can be avoided.
