Toll Gate Automation Using VHDL

Tollgates are mainly made for preventing passage until a toll is paid. The advantage of Toll gate automation is the use of automatic equipment in place of manual effort. We can use this system in several places such as forests, zoo, botanical gardens and parks. Tollgate counter will be made at the entrance and exit gate of such places. At the entrance each vehicle will be provided a pass, i.e. RFID based pass. RFID tags act as data carriers. Before getting inside these places every vehicle will be checked properly and the time and date should be noted.
Vehicle owners, who frequently pass through tollgates, can also opt for a prepaid monthly or seasonal pass, which when swiped (contact less) will deduct the appropriate amount, by using an automated card reader. Further, the Electronic Toll Gate System through its RFID solution, which will be fitted in vehicles, will enable a wireless transaction, allowing the vehicle to move inside those areas. At the exit gate RFID pass will be returned back to toll gate exit counter. The return time of the card is automatically entered according to which the time duration is calculated and the bill will be generated. The Electronic Toll Collection System consists of a Toll Collection System, card reader and a computer that collects data. The moment the vehicle comes near to the toll gate, the RFID unit in the vehicle communicates with the unit at the tollgate, which establishes identity, deducts the appropriate toll amount and electronically instructs the toll gate/barricade to be opened, enabling the vehicle to pass through the toll gate without stopping.
