3G MOBILE

[attachment=28117]

3G:

It’s a standard for 3rd generation mobile telephone systems.
It is capable of transferring voice data and other non voice data simultaneously.
3G network can use the wireless technologies like: GSM,CDMA,TDMA,WCDMA,CDMA2000,UMTS and EDGE.

WI-FI (Wireless fidelity):

Wi-Fi networks use radio technologies called IEEE 802.11a or 802.11b to transmit data from internet to host computer.
These networks operate in the unlicensed 2.4 – 5GHz radio bands with an 11Mbps (802.11b) and 54Mbps (802.11a) data rate.
In some countries like USA these signals are available at cafe shops and food restaurants for internet access at a price.
Apple made connecting wirelessly to the internet from most anywhere in our house makes a simple task.

ADVANTAGES:
Wi-Fi allows LANS to be deployed without cabling for client devices.
As of 2008, wireless network adapters are built into most modern laptops.
Wi-Fi is a Global set of standards.

LIMITATIONS:
It uses mostly LAN standard (IEEE 802.11b).
Wi-Fi with directional antenna & with a mesh network topology.
It uses 2.4GHz band and delivers 11Mbps of data over distances of 100mts.

WI-MAX:

The Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access is a telecommunications technology that provides wireless data in a variety of ways, from point to point links to full mobile cellular type access.
It is based on the IEEE 802.16 standard, which is also called Wireless MAN.
802.16-2004:It is also frequently referred to as "fixed WiMAX" since it has no support for mobility.
802.16-2005:It introduced support for mobility, so it is called as “mobile WiMAX”.
