A Hybrid Fingerprint Matcher that uses both minutiae and texture information present in fingerprints has been developed. A set of 8 Gabor filters are used to extract texture information inherent in fingerprints. Minutiae and/or core information is used to align two fingerprints. The hybrid matcher is to exhibit superior matching performance compared to a purely minutiae-based matcher.
