Mobi-F2F Adapter – A Portable file management device

The Mobi-F2F adapter is a portable file management device that works with USB flash drives and SD cards allowing simultaneous copying to 4 devices. The device is battery operated with easy to use controls further enhancing the portability of media storage devices.
Product Description
The Mobi-F2F adapter has been developed to be the most portable and functional device to eliminate the need for a computer or laptop for basic on-the-go file management. Compact lightweight design coupled with long battery life allows the device to be a reliable electronic file sharing platform. Key features include 3 High-speed USB 2.0 ports, 2 SD-HC ports, a large 2.6” LCD with easy to use navigational buttons as well as status LED indicators. In terms of software the device supports all major file formats such as PDF’s, MS office documents and standard multimedia formats including JPEG and DivX.
Market Plan
Through market research we have discovered that our product is novel and has a large market due to the ever increasing number of portable storage devices on the market. Through a number of surveys we have discovered the main target group for the Mobi-F2F adapter to be business professionals and academia. Figure 1 below shows the target market for the Mobi-F2F adapter, in particular university students who work with several electronic files a day will have the most to gain from our device and form the core target group.
Business operations
Our business consists of 5 engineers in the electrical field, we have the necessary technical experience to start and maintain a profitable business. At first we intend to run our business from a single storage, sales and distribution place in Rondebosch. Large distribution of stock to major computer retailers will be done via secure courier service from the manufacturer to the client, this proved more cost efficient than starting our own delivery unit. Our team will attend and participate in demonstrations at universities and high schools to help promote the Mobi-F2F adapter. After-sales support will be available at our headquarters in Rondebosch through email, telephone and walk-in service. With expansion of the business we will open new privately owned distribution stores across the greater Western Cape municipality.
Financials
In order to start up we will require R150 000 from investors. This capital will be needed for development and prototyping stages as well as for producing the first batch of devices. The initial capital injection will be used as follows.
