Design of Hybrid Mobile Communications in Remote Monitoring System

Report:

In order to monitor the health of large structures such as highways, bridges, buildings, and dams, the outputs from various kinds of sensors, which are positioned at different places of structures, should be collected simultaneously and/or sequentially. However, the placements of sensors and wire connections are time consuming and cost expensive. Furthermore, the wires are easy to be damaged during the placement operation or in service. In this paper, we have proposed a method of using hybrid mobile communication technique in remote monitoring of large constructions. This offers following modes:
• Standby
• Redundancy
• Parallel modes
Among advantages it would flexibly scheme multiple modes and links of mature, commercial and low cost mobile communication networks, aiming at applications of different communication conditions and requirements, and it can construct simple, secure and reliable hybrid communication channels of remote monitoring.
The whole remote monitoring system of large constructions is to be divided into three layers:
1) Functional application layer
2) Data exchange layer
3) Communication interface layer
1st layer is for the collection of data depending upon specific function i.e sensors,2nd layer provides services for upper layer to send and accept data via queues, and for lower layer to maintain and schedule the communication channel in order to enhance the channel utilization ratio, data of monitoring system should be compressed before adding them to queues. .3rd layer In communication interface layer, different mobile communication modes and multiple communication channels should be supported. Functions of communication interface layer, which include data fragmentation and encapsulation, receiving and sending reliability, data encryption and authentication, have been established in various interfaces of different mobile communication channels. The Transmission Control Protocol for the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) can be used to transmit data via CDMA or GPRS. But in IPv4 Some notes must be made here that TCP cannot guarantee the real-time transmission, and needs some cost for connection management, either can it be directly applied with SMS.
Following Design can successfully and flexibly scheme multiple modes and link of various mobile communication networks .it easy, open,very low in cost and its extensible. It has been applied in various large structures. So in comparison with traditional monitoring systems it is proved that hybrid mobile communication system can betterly transmit data in remote monitoring system in very complex and unfavorable environments
