What is DTS ?
The Dispatcher Training Simulator (DTS) is a
Group of applications and related displays that
Create a training environment.
In this environment the Dispatcher can practice
routine and emergency Tasks.
What are the components of DTS ?
The DTS has main two components which can
Perform following functions
Emulates an energy control center’s EMS
Simulates the physical power system
SCADA
Collect data from the monitored system
Issue Control Commands
EMS
Pre despatch functions
Real time despatch functions
Generation dispatch
Network Analysis
Alarms
Provides information for computer and power system problems
Notifies the dispatcher of abnormal and uncommanded equipment operation.
Maintains alarm summary displays and prints alarm logs.
Power system Dynamic Simulation
A detailed description of the components and topology of the system
Schedules to model the dynamic behavior of
Generation, load and circuit breakers
Model of telemetry disturbances
Simulation response speed is similar to real-life
DTS Power Flow
Dynamics updates mechanical power input from the prime movers to the generators once every integration time step
Powerflow(PF) typically runs 8 to 10 seconds. However it can be varied by the instructor.
Voltage and over-current relays are evaluated after each PF solution
