BLUETOOTH TECHNOLOGY

ABSTRACT
In this presentation we have given a brief overview about the bluetooth technology and its future prospects. We started with the history of bluetooth and then described how it uses short wave radio frequency of the ISM band (2.4-2.48GHz) to interconnect devices in a PAN(personal area network)
Then we covered a few basic application of Bluetooth technology and followed it with a detailed discussion about the working. Technical terms like Piconet,slave,master,FHSS etc has been defined with diagram and also the transfer of data in form of packets has been discussed with block diagrams.
There is also a brief discussion on the bluetooth architecture and function of different layers of the protocol stack along with block diagrams. This has been followed by the different versions of bluetooth from V1.0 to V4.0 and their features.
We have also discussed bluetooth security and comparision of bluetooth with other wireless networks like IR-D and Wi-Fi. Two slides has been included which gives a few advantages as well as disadvantages of bluetooth.
Finally we have presented some future prospects of bluetooth technology like uses in medical,security and smart homes. And our last slide has been dedicated to a list of latest bluetooth gadgets in the market today.
To conclude Bluetooth is a low cost, low power RF technology for short-range communications. It could be used to replace cables connecting portable devices. There is a great market potential for bluetooth products and lot of research works is being carried out through out the world to further improve this technology.
