RBS INSTALLATION
[attachment=46143]
NEED FOR A RBS
Where RF coverage distance has to be increased
No Fiber/ Radio media is available for the required distance
Obstructions encountered between the CBS and the required coverage area
SITE PLANNING
Check whether tower is available to give coverage at the proposed RBS site
Whether the RBS tower height
a) has line of sight with the Base Station
b) is above the skyline of the RBS area
Power 220V AC or 48 V DC whether available
TYPES OF INSTALLATION
On the top of a tower with a minimum height of 30 meter
On a MARR mast on the top of a hill or a top a tall building.
Pole mounted on the roof top of a multi- storeyed building
SUB-SYSTEMS OF RBS
Air Unit with mounting fixtures
Ground Unit with interconnect cable
Antenna both directional and omni.
RF cables N male to N male-LMR 400 3 Nos
Lightning protector 3 Nos. with earthing cable
Back up battery, solar panel with power cables
Seal end tape and required tools
Procedure for Site Survey
Fix the 20 dB directional antenna towards the CBS on the tower top or in a pole on the building top where RBS is to be installed
Connect the RF cable between the antenna
and FST.
Power on the FST & Enter proper distance code in KMs
Check for clear dial tone
Note down the distance code for future use
Note down the signal strength & CBS locked
Minimum required is -83 dBm
Enter # 41 Rotate antenna for maximum tone
Fix directional antenna firmly
Power on & Final verification tests and Configuration
Once configuration updated go to “View Configuration Info”
Make sure all the fields are correctly entered
Create a report file for the particular installation
The RBS will lock to the CBS and start functional
Check whether the RBS is locked to CBS in the above menu
Check the RSSI value
Configure one FRS to this RBS and check the RSSI value (Distance code should be 0)
Check for clear dial tone, verify the functionalities
by making a test call
This need to be performed for RBS-BS antenna ports 0 & 1 individually by configuring through rconfig.
Connect the battery and solar panel to the GRU
Remove AC Mains and test with battery
Remove battery and test with solar panel
Reconnect the battery and put on the mains supply
