Introduction

The iPod is a line of portable media players designed and marketed by Apple Inc
The Product was developed in the year and was launched on Oct23,2001
 There are four variants of iPod
First Generation iPod
iPod Mini
iPod Nano
iPod Shuffle
iPod Users could download songs and videos from iTunes store and with this introduction of online music store in april29,2003, the market for the product increased.

Apple faced law suits in 2003 that alleged the life of batteries of iPod was much shorter than advertised.
Criticism of durability-Planned obsolescence.
Exploitation of Workforce in iPod’s factories in china.
Apple faced lawsuits in April 2005 of iPod having disregarded patents,

Customization

Apple provides different varieties of iPod that comes in various colors, specs etc.
It provides more of a Software (ie User Interface) based Customizations. This can be made by the owners themselves
It allows delayed differentiation by Adding a free laser-engraved message to any new iPod. And choose signature gift wrapping to make it even more special.

Reliability and Durability

iPods have been criticized for alleged short life-span and fragile hard drives.
A 2005 survey conducted on the MacInTouch website found that the iPod line had an average failure rate of 13.7%.
In late 2005, many users complained that the surface of the first generation iPod nano can become scratched easily, rendering the screen unusable.
