Problem Statement


To create a robot to assist people in the removal of landmines
This robot will autonomous
Will look for metal based mines in the ground
Easily transported
Can physically mark the suspected area of landmine

Manufactured by Shayang Ye Industrial.
Rated Current: < 900mA
Torque: 5 Kgf-cm
Gears are constructed of metal.
High torque and easily controlled by PWM.


Metal Detector


GoldPic3 Pulse Induction Metal Detector
Designed for beach environment
Looks for small metal objects.
Example: Able to locate a dime at 17cm
Will look for circuit wiring, percussion caps, or metal casing



Object-Oriented PIC


Manufactured by Savage Industries.
Ideally made for controlling robotics
Uses C or JAVA
Familiarity with C compiler
16 I/O pins
I/O Voltage Regulator
Motor Connector-Dual H-Bridge
Will control the motors, read input from metal detector, navigate the vehicle, and control the valve on marker.



Conclusion


We have made many changes to our initial design.
In the future we plan to perform experiments to see how our design will operate in the field.
We hope that this device will help to remove people from the actual search for landmines and keep individuals at a safe distance from a hazardous area.
