Project Overview
This project will be developed in the Information Network Security Agency (INSA). The objective of INSA is to protect the country from any information attack and secure the country’s information network from any threat. UVSS is one of the instruments that helps INSA achieve its objectives. A UVSS system is capable of conducting intelligence and surveillance (IS) mission, which are the key recipes for an Information Network Security Agency.

The project mainly focuses on designing, manufacturing and deploying of the UVSS control board as well as the UVSS mechanical part.
Project Block diagram
The overview of the UCSS Controller Board Design diagram is shown below.
Block diagram Description
1. The UVSS board will have Relay Control channels
Controlling the power outlet for the camera as well as the explosive and drug detector.
2. Microcontroller: responsible for interfacing and processing sensor data, handling I/O, running control signal.
3. PIR Sensor: The PIR sensor or Passive infrared sensor is an electronic device that is commonly used as motion detector. It is made of a material that can measure the amount of infrared radiated by objects in its field of view.

4. Explosive and Drug detector: used to search the subject under investigation carries explosive material as well as narcotics (drugs). It gives the appropriate signal to the microcontroller according to the investigation.
5. Camera: is used for video surveillance.
5 Current situation
All the team members of the UVSS have been working on similar project with some of the modules have not been incorporated (the previous UVSS project). In that period, a considerable capacity in knowledge and experience has been gained.
Purpose/objectives
The aim of this project is to design and implement UVSS that enables to accomplish the following tasks
1. Safety inspection for important conference, frontier patrol, airport, wharf and open sites, and the suspected areas.
2. Protect VIP persons on the way, and detect the suicidal explosion.
3. Penal investigation site: judge whether criminal possess gun ammunition, kidnapper carries explosive material or not.
4. Search the hidden detonator and explosive materials.
5. Check whether there are dangerous articles at the wharf, highroad and checkpoint.

The project can satisfy some of the objectives assigned by the Information Operation Directorate to the group which are listed below.
Enhancing the potential to design, manufacture and assemble a standard hardware prototype.
Develop the capacity and skill to produce and use automation system.
Building embedded system related skills.
To provide hardware realization and testing environment in accordance with the agency’s mission.

6. Scope of project
5.1 In scope
1. Developing UVSS controller board to interface sensors and to provide control signals to relay input.
Sensors to interface:
a) Explosive Detector
b) Drug Detector
c) PIR sensor
d) Ultrasonic Sensor
2. Developing autopilot UVSS software responsible for processing sensor data, and controlling the Relay modules.
Facilitating the Manufacturing process of the Mechanical Part.
Out of scope
I. Manufacturing the Explosive detector
II. Manufacturing the Drug detector
III. Manufacturing the mechanical part.

Failure of our PCB manufacturing service

Urgency
ISR mission is important to any country to secure social services and military activities from intruders. UVSS applications are very important to Ethiopia because of our vulnerability for terrorists from neighbouring countries. So it is essential to develop the control board of UVSS system and also contribute a role in achieving the goals of INSA.
