DESIGN OF FOUR STAGE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IN CONTACT PROCESS

INTRODUCTION
The project consists of the detailed designing of a four pass catalytic bed reactor for a sulphuric acid plant of capacity 1000 TPD.
The manufacturing is done by CONTACT PROCESS as the conversion achieved was much higher than that achieved through chamber process.
CATALYST
4-9 wt % Vanadium Pentoxide, V2O5, as the active component.
Alkali metal sulphate promoters :Caesium sulphate.
Caesium sulphate lowers the melting point.
Carrier material is silica in different forms usually as PELLETS.
FUTURE PLANS
After getting the required data from the observations, we will make the process design & the mechanical design using the relevant formulae as explained above.
