Development of a Miles Acquisition System (MAS)

Abstract of the project

Miles Acquisition System (MAS) is a Web based application for a particular Airlines company. This application facilitates registering, updating, and utilization of miles for a Frequent Flier of its flights. The frequent flier should be able to login and key in all the details of his travel in their airlines. The application is accessible for the frequent fliers from the existing website of the airlines.

Project type keywords

Analysis, Design, Implementation, Testing

Functional components of the project

The application should support:

1.Registration for a new flier.
2.Authentication of its users before usage of application.
3.Updating of miles by a frequent flier. The frequent flier will be able to accumulate miles maximum up to 5, 00,000.
4.Options to utilize the miles accumulated so far.
5.Once the miles are utilized, the corresponding miles will be deducted from the accumulated miles.
6.Report- History of miles utilization or Trend shown as a graph; from both end-userâ„¢s point of view and from the system managament point of view.

Steps to start-off the project

1.Go through some of the existing airlines websites.
2.Check how the miles-acquisition feature is presented in those sites.
3.Come up with a policy for frequent-flying (how many miles will entitle a frequent-flier to get what kind of a benefit etc)
4.Develop a prototype to ensure the screen layout and functionality is understood clearly.

Title of the project

Development of a user friendly ,feature-rich, practical Appraisal Tracker.

Abstract of the project

This project is aimed at developing an Appraisal Tracker that is of importance to either an organisation or a college. This Appraisal Tracker system is used to track the performance of an individual. An individualâ„¢s performance is rated by himself and his superior in the organization. The tasks for the next 6 months are set by the superior. The performance rating is done based on several attributes (like the timeliness, quality of work, communication skills etc).

Functional components of the project

Following is a list of functionalities of the system. More functionalities that you find appropriate can be added to this list. And, in places where the description of a functionality is not adequate, you can make appropriate assumptions and proceed.

1. The system should have appropriate login facility. Relevant options like change password and creating profile etc.

2. The system should allow administrator to control all the acitivties hence identify the roles and accessibility of other users.

3. The admin should have the facility to add/modify/delete new performance measures.

4. The superior should be able to rate the individual working for him.

5. Once the rating is done, an automatic mail should be sent to the individual informing him about the ratings.
6. The individual should be able to rate himself on all the tasks (so that a comparison between this self-rating and the rating given by his superior can be made)

7. The superior should be able to set the tasks for the next 6 months for employees working for him.

Steps to start-off the project

1. Study and be comfortable with technologies such as ASP , JavaScript and Oracle 8i.

2. Understand the specification and come up with any suggestions that could be included.

3. Decide on the strategy or plan or software model to be used.

4. Create flowcharts or DFDâ„¢s.

5. Create Database design.

6. Decide on GUI with good look and feel.

7. Start on creating the frontend and backend.

8. Go module wise in a simple step by step manner rather than rushing on all modules together.
