Introduction:-

ARM is the most leading company in today corporate world. It was Headquartered is in
Cambridge, UK and it i iis worldwide has branches in India, US, Korea, China, swedan and
Taiwan. It was founded in 1990. They do not develope the chip but rather they produce the
design to thosw manufacturing companies.
They have provided licenses to more than 250 companies.
ARM is a 32-bit Reduce instruction set computer (RISC) Instruction Set Architecture (ISA). It
was named as Advanced RISC Machine. ARM produved many processors, mocrocontroller i
various versions. the first microcontroller from ARM was 6502 processor used in their BBC
computer in 1989 with ACORN.
ARM spilited from ACORN 1990 and started their self design process independently.
In 1991 ARM introduced its first embeddable RISC core, the ARM6 solution. In 1993 ARM
introduced more advanced ARM7 core. These were 16-bit processors. Later in 1995 ARM
announced the Thumb architecture extension, which gives 32-bit RISC performance at 16-bit
system cost and offers industry-leading code density. Further development continued and ma
32-bit version came which brought many advanced technologies in various sectors. current
ARM version we are using is ARMv7 architecture in smartphones, tablets,Android.

What is ARMv8:-

ARM announced its new upcoming processor version8 which is 64-bit architecture. Thi
will support all 32-bit recent architecture. It has 64-bit instruction set and capable of
addressing several terra bytes of physical memory.
The new ARMv8 architecture has two mode of operations.
The fisrt mode is AArch32 state which is compatible with previous generations of 32-bi

ARM processors

The second mode of operation is AArch64, the new 64-bit extensions.
The ARMv8 ISA extends the current ARMv7 architecture to include support for 64-bit
addressing.
ARMv8 processors will be able to encode and decode AES encryption, and will suppor
on-chip acceleration of the SHA-1 and SHA-256 hashing algorithms as well.

Memory issues:-

ARMv8 chips will support 64-bit processing, which means up to 16
Exabyte's of memory, the virtual address space is topped out at 48-bits
right now.
Since the ARMv8 possess 64-bit wide integer register and program
couner hence it can have memory of 2^64B hat is several TerraBytes.
The current architecture ARMv7, which has 40-bit vitual address use a
two-stage for address translation to get around the 4GB memory.
This problem is overcome in ARMv8 which provide several TerraBytes
of phsical memory.

Applications ARMv8:-

Android, smartphones, tablets, disk drives, and automotive GPS
systems, mobile computing.
wide spectrum of applications such as PDAs.
voice compression and decompression, three-dimensional graphics
and digital audio.
printers, set-top boxes, and automotive applications.
In servers.

Summery:-

ARM is a 32-bit reduced instruction set computer (RISC) instruction set
architecture (ISA) developed by ARM Technologies Limited.ARM
architecture is the most widely used 32-bit instruction set architecture used in
numbers electronics products,
continous improvement in VLTI technology has brought the embadded
sector to its peak magnitude and benifitates us with lot of new feasibilities
than past achievement.
ARM has announced its most advanced ARMv8 architecture in october 2011
which is 8th generation processor.
ARMv8 is 64-bit architecture which will provide both 32-bit as well 64-bit
operation. 32-bit instruction set is for ARMv7 operation.
Its instruction set facilitates both 32-bit as well 64-bit. 32-bit instruction set is
taken in account because presently all most advanced technologies used are
in smartphones, Tablets; Androids are 32-bit operating.
