Introduction to microcomputer and microprocessors
OVERVIEW OF 8085 P: Architecture, Instruction set, addressing modes.
8086 MICROPROCESSOR: Introduction to 8086 p family, internal architecture, system bus structure, pipelining process, addressing modes of 8086.
Instruction set descriptions, Assembler directives, Program development steps, ALP development tools, simple data transfer programs using assembler.

UNIT-II

PROGRAMMING 8086: Assembly Language programs to evaluate arithmetic expressions, sorting, programs involving Logical, branch, String and Bit manipulation instructions, procedures and macros, timing and delays.
8086 pin diagram, Minimum & Maximum mode of operation, Timing diagram, stack structure and sub routines, 8086 Interrupts & interrupt responses, Introduction to DOS and BIOS interrupts.

UNIT-III

INTERFACING TO 8086: Addressing memory & ports, parallel data transfer schemes, programmable parallel I/O 8255, modes of 8255.
Digital interfacing: Interfacing p to 7-segment display, keyboard and stepper motor.
Analog interfacing: D/A and A/D converter operation, interfacing to 8086.

UNIT-IV

PROGRAMMABLE PERIPHERAL DEVICES: 8257/8237 DMA controllers, 8253 programmable interval timer, 8251A USART, 8259A PIC, cascading of PIC, RS-232C Serial data standard.

UNIT-V

ADVANCED PROCESSORS: Introduction to 80286, Salient Features of 80386, Real and Protected address mode, Segmentation & Paging, Salient Features of Pentium, overview of RISC Processors.
