Development of Underwater Laser communication System

Abstract
An underwater Laser communication system has been developed. The system comprises two transeiver units capable of full duplex communication. The system has been tested and demonstrated for the transfer of both text and data files between two PCs over 10m water channel lengths. The modulation technique employed in the present set-up is on-off keying. The experimentalset-up together with practical issues has been discussed in detail. Underwater laser propagation experiments have also been conducted for various water types. The rms value of beam attenuation co-efficient in sea water has been determined.
