What is a NED?
A Nano -Emissive Display, also known as an NED, is a new type of nanotube technology (a type of FED-Field Emissive Display-approach) in which carbon nanotubes are grown directly on glass at low temperatures.

A nano-emissive display takes the carbon nanotubes and grows them directly on the glass of the display system. According to Motorola, this enables the displays to be very energy efficient in the way they emit electrons, which causes the visible display by lighting up colored phosphers. Motorola's use of carbon nanotubes showed a practical video use of the technology at a time when many openly wondered if it had such a use.
Flat displays : the future is nano
1)Nano-emissive displays are potentially the cheapest and best alternative to HDTV, CRT and LCD screens. These can be made in larger sizes with better image quality at a lesser cost.
2) A breakthrough technique that could create large, flat panel displays with superior quality, longer
lifetimes and lower costs than current offerings.
