Abstract—This paper proposes and realizes the structure and
realization method of an embedded network management
system based on Web through intensive study and discussion of
embedded network management technology based on Web.
This structure and method expand the range of network
management, apply network management to embedded devices,
study and realize rich management functions based on limited
embedded devices and sum up key techniques and strategies in
realization on the whole and therefore this system has certain
engineering value and theoretical value.

I. INTRODUCTION
Along with the coming of post-PC era, all newly
emerging digital networks are closely interrelated to
embedded system. Various embedded systems, such as
information appliance, sensor, communication product,
industrial controller and personal digital assistant (PDA), etc,
had long ago entered into people's life and production. With
the wider application of Internet technology and embedded
system, online embedded systems have become an inevitable
trend.
A large number of online embedded devices put forward
higher requirements for the reliability and real-time
performance of network transmission. And therefore,
embedding network management agent software into online
embedded devices to make managers realize remote control
and monitoring of embedded devices through network is
essential in construction and maintenance of embedded
network. At present, SNMP network management protocol is
still one of core technologies in the field of embedded
network management for its simplicity, easy realization and
relatively low development cost, and meanwhile, due to
many advantages of Web management mode, SNMP agent
in embedded device is managed by general Web browser,
which is a hot research direction in the field of the current
embedded network management, generally, we can carry out
remote management of SNMP agent through network
management station or Web browser. We implant embedded
real-time operating systems, such as Win CE, VxWorks and
μ cLinux, etc, into these embedded devices and load Thin
TCP/IP to realize the networking of devices. Embedded
agent is located in the embedded application layer of the
whole embedded system and responsible for responding to
managers and obtaining information from device itself. This
paper introduces in detail the research results and design
details of embedded network management technology based
