Software Requirements Specification For VIRTUAL CLASSROOM

INTRODUCTION:
Education over the Internet is the latest concept in spreading education to everyone. The conveniences of learning on line are numerous. Students and those interested in learning over the computer and can choose their own timing that is convenient to them and the classes can be taken at their own place.
This Virtual Classroom System is designed in such a way that the student i.e. client can communicate with the server when it is logged on and the client can retrieve the text files from the server by issuing the request. Clients have his or her own login name and password, which help them to get connected with the server. Here the students are provided with the facility of attending the class of their choice and can choose the faculty according to their wish.
PURPOSE:
Developing a virtual classroom system to promote a greater count of students to splurge into the field of Education.It integrates the benefits of a physical classroom with the convenience of aËœno-physical-barâ„¢ virtual learning environment, minus the commuting hazards and expenses. It will user in the immense flexibility and sophistication in the existing learning platform structures, with the perfect blend of synchronous and asynchronous interaction. It provides a means of collaborative learning for the students.
OVERVIEW:
The result of the requirements elicitation shall be an updated, functional version of the current Radford University Club Soccer website. This system shall be deemed successful after the following specifications are completed:
1. Club Soccer website complies with the current Radford University color scheme
2. Old information on the Club Soccer website has been updated
3. Current team roster has been posted
4. Current team pictures have been included into a slideshow
5. An interactive calendar has been added for team events and game schedules
USER CLASSES AND CHARACTERISTICS:
The main User Class that is going to use this product is the teaching group (teachers, lecturers, etc.), and it's frequency of use could be on a daily basis. Because this product is innovative this user class will need some training to get used to the new technologies and to get experienced. Another User Class to be using this product is guiding personnel which will be needed to guide and train the first use class. It’s frequency of use would be on demand whenever there would be the need for guidance and training.
FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENT
1. Students can choose courses, attend lectures, take exams, view their attendance records, progress reports etc as per their convenience.
2. Registration for multiple courses.
3. Attend lectures either at the scheduled time or on request view lecture at a later time.
4. Faculties can take lectures, upload assignments, announcements, evaluate answer sheets and also can upload lectures and other discussions in various formats as in videos, power point presentation etc.
5. Upload and Download of various assignments, college notices, student's notices, journals, videos.
6. Real Time collaboration among “ A/B via chat rooms, shared and interactive whiteboards.
7. Asynchronous communication in the form of Emails, discussion boards that enable communication to occur at "convenient-times" that suit student schedules and are not accessed at simultaneous or prearranged times.
8. There can be forums, blogs etc to discuss various queries and to put up suggestions posted both by students and teachers.
9. Administrator can generate reports, log files, backup/recovery of data at any time.
10. Shared documents and media library that can help in active learning of a student.
