ABSTRACT
The e-Admission:Online Admission Application System allows University to receive applications through the web and candidates need not collect physical forms. Candidates are required to visit the admission website of the institute. All eligibility criteria, no. of seats, selection criteria etc are mentioned in the website.Every student creates an account for himself and all future activities like submitting the application form are done only after successful validation through the students own account.Merit list of eligible candidates are generated through the application and published on the admission website.
Since the candidates information is entered by the candidate and that to once, this result in reduced turnaround time for the entire admission process. This saves a lot of time and effort on the part of the institute as well as for the candidates. Moreover, the merit list of admitted students is generated automatically by the application, ruling out any chance of foul play. In this case only the deserving candidates get admission to the institute.
INTRODUCTION
The primary function of e-Admission system is to allow students to seek admission
In the university. This means students should be able to fill application form online. The
e-Admission:Online University Admission makes the process of University admission
effortless and simple. It simplifies student- University pre-admission interaction.
The students are required to visit the University website and follow the instructions for filling the form. The filling and submission of form is a simple process wherein students enter their personal and other academic details.
PURPOSE
The University Admission System has been developed in order to automate the complete admission system starting from the notification to admission process.
The system enables online admissions saving the time of the geographically scattered students. It enables reducing time in activities, centralized data handling and paperless admission with reduced manpower. It improves the operational efficiency and reduces the cost.
SCOPE
Create different system users and assign different roles with related permissions.
The Notification will be released online.
Students can apply online.
Hall tickets will be issued for registered candidates.
Ranks will be generated depending upon the marks obtained for qualified candidates.
Admissions will be done online, saving the time of students.
Centralized data maintained.
The seats management will be done by the convener online and availability of seats announced.
Statistical reports on daily activities in the admission process will be generated.
The system provides security through password authentication. The Administrative staff and system administrators have their own login ids and these ids help in maintain the integrity of the system.
MOTIVATION
We are living in the era of technology where everything from a usual greeting to a corporate conference is driven by the computers and internet. Looking back to university where we have a good IT infrastructure but we still follow the conventional ways of governance and service delivery, we feel like living in Stone Age. So the need of the hour is to encompass the trends and advancements of technology in our university. So we have an inherent motivation to design an e-governance project for the university to facilitate speedy development and best effort service delivery.
The driving force behind the e-governance projects is the usage of internet technologies in the day to day life applications .It brings transparency and accountability in the working approach of university employees .It greatly reduces paper work and increases the delivery of service. When world organizations are going to a swift transaction from conventional forms to the newer advanced technologies, it becomes the need of hour for a university like ours based on science and technology to switch and adopt the recent trends in technology like e-governance
PROBLEM STATEMENT
The problem at hand is to develop an e-admission module that will enable the
students to get admission online and makes it a cakewalk for the university officials
to conduct the admission process. The various issues involved are discussed as follows:
APPLICATION FORM
The e- Admission: Online Application System will allow the university to receive
applications through the web and candidates need not collect physical forms. Candidates will
be required to visit the admission website of the university. All eligibility criteria, number of
seats, selection criteria etc will be mentioned in the website. Candidates will be required to
fill in the online admission form and submit it online. On successful submission of the
application the candidate wil receive a unique form no. against which he / she is required to
make the payment of the application form.
MERIT LIST
Merit list of eligible candidates will be generated through the application itself and published on the admission website.
SECURITY
Security is a major concern as various sensitive documents will be available on the internet. Only authorized personal should be allowed to make any changes in the documents.
Economic Feasibility
Economic feasibility attempts to weigh the costs of developing and implementing a new system, against the benefits that would accrue from having the new system in place. This feasibility study gives the top management the economic justification for the new system.
A simple economic analysis which gives the actual comparison of costs and benefits are much more meaningful in this case. In addition, this proves to be a useful point of reference to compare actual costs as the project progresses. There could be various types of intangible benefits on account of automation. These could include increased customer satisfaction, improvement in product quality better decision making timeliness of information, expediting activities, improved accuracy of operations, better documentation and record keeping, faster retrieval of information, better employee morale.
Operational Feasibility
Proposed project is beneficial only if it can be turned into information systems that will meet the organizations operating requirements. Simply stated, this test of feasibility asks if the system will work when it is developed and installed. Are there major barriers to Implementation? Here are questions that will help test the operational feasibility of a project:
Is there sufficient support for the project from management from users? If the current system is well liked and used to the extent that persons will not be able to see reasons for change, there may be resistance.
Are the current business methods acceptable to the user? If they are not, Users may welcome a change that will bring about a more operational and useful systems.
Have the user been involved in the planning and development of the project?
Early involvement reduces the chances of resistance to the system and in general and increases the likelihood of successful project.
Since the proposed system was to help reduce the hardships encountered. In the existing manual system, the new system was considered to be operational feasible.
Technical Feasibility
Evaluating the technical feasibility is the trickiest part of a feasibility study. This is because, .at this point in time, not too many detailed design of the system, making it difficult to access issues like performance, costs on (on account of the kind of technology to be deployed) etc. A number of issues have to be considered while doing a technical analysis.
Understand the different technologies involved in the proposed system before commencing the project we have to be very clear about what are the technologies that are to be required for the development of the new system. Find out whether the organization currently possesses the required technologies. Is the required technology available with the organization?
