ABSTRACT
A considerable interest has emerged in combined or ‘hybrid’ energy systems. An application in which multiple energy conversion devices used together to supply an energy requirement is essential. These systems can be used in isolated applications and normally include at least one ren-ewable energy source.
Aim of this project is to supply power to remote areas by using renewable resources like solar, wind and hydro. In this, loads are directly connected to the system, so that transmission losses are reduced and cost is also reduced. Hybrid energy systems are used as an alternative to conventional systems, which are typically based on a single fossil fuel source. Hybrid power system can be used to reduce energy storage requirements.
The project deals with the modeling of a solar-wind/hydro hybrid system in MATLAB/Simulink environment. For all load demands the levelised energy cost for hybrid system is always lower than that of standalone solar PV or wind system. The hybrid option is techno economically viable for rural electrification. Blocks like wind model, solar model, hydro model energy conversion and loads are used to simulate the hybrid power system.
