DELHI METRO RAIL CORPORATION (DMRC)
ABSTRACT
This report deals with the AFC and TELECOM department of DMRC. It includes brief introduction about the organization. It provides an overview of DMRC AFC (Automatic fare collection) technology system for contactless payment system in the form of TOM, GATES,TR, MEDIA.
In addition to this the report also highlights the TELECOM DEPARTMENT of DMRC. Under Telecom, report includes FOTS (various multiplexing techniques like SDH and by using Access Mux), Public Information Display System(PIDS), Public Addressing System(PAS), CCTV, RADIO SYSTEMS, EBTS, TELEPHONE SYSTEMS, EPABX , NETWORKING etc and how all these work in unison in a DMRC network.
BRIEF PROFILE OF DMRC
For implementation and operation of DELHI MRTS, a company under the name of DELHI METRO RAIL CORPORATION was registered on 03-05-1995 under the companies act, 1956. DMRC has an equal equity partnership with GOVERNMENT OF INDIA(GOI) and GOVERNMENT OF NATIONAL CAPITAL TERRORITY OF DELHI(GNCTD).The metro was inaugurated on 22-12-2002.It became the second underground rapid transit system in India after the one operational in Kolkata. Unlike Kolkata, Delhi metro has combination of elevated as well as underground sections. Trains typically operating between the networks typically at a speed of 80 kmph or 50 mph and stops approximately 20 seconds at each MTRS Station.
NEED FOR METRO:
As cities grows in size, number of vehicular trips on the road system goes up. This necessitates a pragmatic policy shift to discourage private modes and encourage public transport once level of traffic along any travel corridor exceeds twenty thousand (20,000) person per hour. Introduction of rail based MRTS (Mass rapid transit system) is called for. MRTS is capital intensive and have long gestation period. Thus need for METRO became the call of the day.
CSC READER/WRITER:
The CSC module is constituted by a modem and an antenna included in a plastic housing. This set is linked to the TOM CPU via a serial link powered by 12V DC adapter. The CSC module reads and writes CSC data with secure access using diversified keys mechanism for authentication and selection of CSC. Functions of CSC READER/WRITER are:
It reads and writes media.
It is connected to serial port 1 of CPU.
It is powered by 12 volt DC adapter.
Houses Antenna , CSC and SAM board crypto card.
UNINTERRUPTED POWER SUPPLY (UPS)
Power from supply is not a steady flow of electricity. are numerous variations in supply, including sudden impulses, bursts etc. Some of these variations can be highly destructive to sensitive equipment. The system offers the user the following disadvantages:
1. The UPS has its own internal voltages and frequency regulator so that its output is maintained within close tolerances independent of frequency and voltage variation.
2. Rectifying AC power to DC power and then converting it back to AC, any electrical noise present on the input main supply line is effectively isolated from the UPS output.
3. If main power fails, the UPS provides the necessary power from it’s battery.
UPS basically operates as an AC-DC-AC converter. First conversion stage uses a 3 phase, fully controlled SCR bridge rectifier to convert the incoming main supply into a regulated DC supply. DC produced by the rectifier provides both battery charging and power to the inverter section.
