INTRODUCTION:
In 1995, automobile manufacturers introduced ESC systems by Mercedes-Benz, supplied by Bosch.
Its Helps maintain control of a vehicle by keeping it headed in the direction the driver wants it to go.
Electronic Stability Control
It is a computerized technology.
It improves the safety of a
vehicle's stability by detecting
and minimizing skids.
Types of safety systems
Two types of safety systems:
1.Active safety systems:
traction control, antilock brakes etc…
2.Passive safety systems:
seat belts and air bags etc…
ESC is classified as active
Anti-lock Brake System (ABS)
Prevents the wheels from locking up during braking and thus maintains the steerability and directional control of the vehicle during deceleration.
Engine Braking Regulation (EBR
It reduces brake slip at the drive wheels during deceleration.
Ensures directional control.
