INTRODUCTION
The role of a distribution transformer is to convert high-voltage electricity supplied from a power station into lower-voltage electricity for safe use.
Transformers operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week during which time, They undergo constant losses of 2 to 4% of the electricity that passes through them.
By introducing the new Amorphous Metal Core transformer, reduces core loss to less than 30% those of conventional steel cores & Up to 75% energy saving over conventional silicone steel (CRGO) transformer .
PROPERTIES OF AMORPHOUS METAL
Amorphous metallic alloys have excellent soft magnetic properties:
low magnetic loss.
High electrical resistivity of the alloy.
Amorphous metals stay elastic in high tension rates.
Better tensile strength than tool steels.
Amorphous metal with chromium has good corrosion durability.
WHAT ARE AMORPHOUS METAL CORE TRANSFORMERS
In transformers with amorphous cores, a ribbon of steel is wound forming the core.
The big benefit of amorphous metal core transformers is that amorphous steel has lower hysteresis losses.
Because there is no rule of atomic arrangement, the energy loss (hysteresis loss) is small when the flux of magnetic induction passes the iron core.
In addition, eddy current loss is decreased because the thickness is approximately 0.03 mm, which is about 1/10 comparing with silicon steel.
conclusion
It is observed from this study of AMORPHOS METAL CORE, that is amorphos metal core is more efficient & energy saving as compared to the CRGO core.
It is low loss core for distribution system.
Very low temperature rise of core
