Overview of BSSGP architecture
Overview of BSSGP.ppt (Size: 206 KB / Downloads: 52)
Major functionalities and services provided by the BSS
1) Besides transportation of LLC PDU, BSS in GPRS access network performs
the signaling with SGSN for Mobility management, network management
associated Gb interface (for BSS-SGSN node management) and functions
associated with packet Flow context (PFC).
2) BSS maintains user specific information to enable RLC/MAC for transmit
LLC PDU to MS in user specific manner. Such as radio access capability,
packet flow identifier (best effort traffic, signals and SMS), bit rate,
transmission mode etc.
3) After each Routing Area Update (RAU), BSS updates, deletes or
Create new BVCI corresponding to TLLI given by SGSN and BSS finds
MS from context corresponding to TLLI to send paging request to MS
4) The BSS shall control the flow of BSSGP PDUs to its BVC buffers
by indicating to the SGSN the maximum allowed throughput in total
for each BVC and . The amount of buffered BSSGP PDUs should be
optimised to efficiently use the available radio resource.
