The Electronic Learning Centre was created in August 2003 in Mysore following the demands of a rapidly changing scene. The E-Learning Centre has given industry the due role in the development of e-Learning content and research activity. It has diversified with its full activities such as EDUSAT-based live streaming, web-based e-learning, E-Vidya Meadia Streaming Solutions, 3D Animation Courses, SCORM Content, Innovative Workshops for VTU Research Students, Teachers NMEICT NPTEL Project and other Enhanced Technology Learning Initiatives for the benefit of the VTU student community and Facult members, etc.
The main objectives of the Centre are:
• Create an EDUSAT satellite-based distance education facility using a Ku-band multimedia-based data dissemination system (MBDDS)
• Create a web-based e-learning service
• Collect, process and disseminate content developed by the faculty of both academia and industry
• Provide interaction / orientation / feedback tools to students and act as a facilitator between experts and students
• Complement the conventional system of training and education and standardize technical education
• Explore the possibility of using the EDUSAT network for administrative purposes and other activities of the VTU
