Introduction
Quad-rotors were conceptualized by Dr. George de Bothezat and Ivan Jerome in the 1920s.
Oemichen‘s quad-rotor design in 1920
This type rotor failed. That why Oemichen to add additional lifting power to lift this quad copter biggest disadvantage.
Oemichen was able to come up with a new design capable lift attest 14min. In Air(In 1923 ).
Milestone Deliverables
Fully constructed and functional quad-copter
This includes:
Hover and Balance functionality
Turn left/right
Ascend Descend
Wireless communication established
Batteries
when two Li-poly (lithium ion polymer) packs are connected two in parallel, they double their capacitance, while delivering half of the current draw through each cell.
One workable pack configuration has three cells wired in series with two of these three cell configurations wired in parallel, which is known as 3s 2p packs.
The Li-poly packs test very consistently, with random drops in voltage a thing of the past.
Li-poly batteries are also three times more energy dense than nickel batteries, consequently, they have a lower weight, which increases flight time drastically.
KK Multi Copter Control Board
This KKMulticopter controller is a flight control board for up to 6 Rotor Aircraft.
Its purpose is to stabilize the aircraft during flight.
send varying signals to the ESCs which in turn adjust the rotational speed of each motor to induce controlled flight (up, down, backwards, forwards, left, right, yaw).
It uses the Murata piezoelectric gyros which have been incorporated into the board design for robustness.
The Yaw gyro assembly is also slot mounted for extra robustness.
These gyros have proven to be the most vibration resistant of all the gyros we have tested so far.
