INTRODUCTION
Solar power is the conversion of sunlight into electricity, either directly using photovoltaic (PV), or indirectly using concentrated solar power (CSP). Concentrated solar power systems use lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam. Photovoltaic convert light into electric current using the photoelectric effect
Solar energy is the form of electromagnetic radiation emitted from the sun, but especially that the part of their energy that is converted into THERMAL or ELECTRICITY energy on earth.
PHOTOVOLTAICS:
Photovoltaics (PV’s) are arrays of cells containing a solar photovoltaics material that converts solar radiation into direct current electricity.
Materials presently used for photovoltaics include monocrystalline silicon, polycrystalline silicon, amorphous silicon, cadmium telluride and copper indium.
Revenue:
Investor will be able to recover the fund invested by him i.e. Rs.1.90 Cr. within 3-4 years.
After that he will be able to generate cash flow of more than Rs.8.00 Cr. For next 12 years.
Calculations are made on very conservative side considering revenue at lower side and expenses at higher side.
Expected tax benefit under Sec.80 IA while making calculations.
Life of plant is 25 years. All the calculations made only for 15 years. (Revenue for 10 years not considered as viability of the project can be proved in 1st 15 years only.)
Marketing Mechanism:
PPA Mechanism
RECS (Renewable Energy Certificate System):
A Solar Plant setup through REC Mechanism shall have two sources of revenue
The Electricity that is generated and sold to DISCOM (Pool Cost) / Third Party (Mutually Agreed Price) / Captive Use (Electricity cost)
For every unit of power fed to the Grid equivalent RE certificates shall be issued by CERC through NLDC, which shall be traded at Power Exchanges (Indian Energy.
Minimal fuel and environmental risks
Climatic changes imposing the government to give more importance to alternate sources.
In solar power systems there are no harmful gas emission, no wasted water, no noise and no waste generation.
Volatility in oil prices have increased the focus on renewable sources of energy like solar energy.
Once solar power system is installed, the cost of generating electricity is fixed over the lifespan of the system with no risk of shortage of fuel or rise in fuel prices.
