INTRODUCTION
Industrial visit is a part of the engineering course, during
which students visit companies and get insight of on the internal
working environment of the company. The industrial visit also
provides an insight on how companies work and also useful
information related to the practical aspects of the course which cannot
be visualized in lectures. Industrial visit considered as one of the most
tactical methods of teaching. The main reason behind this – it lets
students to know things practically through interaction, working
methods and employment practices. Moreover, it gives exposure from
academic point of view.
For this we have arranged the Industrial visit on February 27,
2013 to our local industry, JADHAO GEARS PRIVATE LIMITED.
Around 50 boys and 25 girls were present for the visit, under the
guidance of one faculty Dr.A.G.Matani. We were reached their by our
own vehicles around 11.00 am and started visit in the groups. The
engineer GANESH BIJWE from the fabrication shop were with us as
guide. He was explaining about all the Machines and Methods
employed for the production and machining.
CONVENTIONAL MACHINING SHOP :
In Conventional machining shop we saw Machining centres,
Turning centres, Gear Hobbing & Teeth Profile Grinding, Knife
Grinding, Broaching, Thread Rolling and Special Purpose
Machines accomplish the high precision machining.
MACHINES AND SPECIFICATIONS
We have seen lot of machines and understood their working
procedure and capacities. The few important machines and their
specifications are:
1. PLANO MILLER:
A milling machine which can perform Side
Machining, Horizontal & Vertical job can be done. It is about 8 feet
high having single milling cutter.
2. GANG PLANO MILLER (1963):
A gang milling machine which can perform
Boring, Machining, finishing, and many more operations. It is about
35feet long and can machine a huge job like Press Machine Chamber,
bottom frame etc. It is having 4 cutters operated by 4 three phase
induction motors. Cutters have carbide tip for excellent finishing and
longer life.
3.LATHE MACHINE :
The lathe machine is used for the oprations like turning, boring,
threading on Tie Bar upto 700.5mm.It has a capacity of handling 45
feet work piece. It has Guide centers and fixtures for handling the
huge job. The long job is supported between live and dead centre.
4. PLASMA PROFILE CUTTING MACHINE:
It is the most important machine in the fabrication shop used for
the different profile cuttings of heavy sheet metals. It is using LPG +
Comp.AIR mixture as burning gases. It gives the sharp blue flame
due to nozzle attached on it. It can cut all profiles of AUTOCAD. It
is fully automated machine which can cut from 5 to 16 mm
thickness.
EXPERIENCES AND DISCUSSIONS:
We got lot of experience from this industrial visit. We
have actually seen the working of various heavy machines. This
visit provides us the practical knowledge. Also the industrial life and
troubles somewhat understood. Industrial safety measures are also
observed during the visit.
During the discussion with the Ganesh Bijwe and other
operators and engineers, we got tremendous knowledge. They are of
very helping nature. They have teach us working of various
machines, and shown a video of actual working of complete
GINING PLANT of Pune, manufactured and installed by Jadhao
Group.
CONCLUSION
This industrial visit enable us to enlarge our technical vision in
such a way so that we can apply our subject matters into real time
products .As already discussed, we understood the concept of industry
working. We got lot of practical knowledge. We have seen the different
heavy machines and understood the various methods of manufacturing
and machining. It provides us the difference between academic life and
industrial life. This will help us to join a particular department of
particular company. Thus our industrial visit to Jadhao gears Pvt. Ltd.
helpful in all the ways so that we can able to know about visionary
behind production of mechanical components and processes.
