Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP):
Very much quantity of water is required for paper manufacturing process. Source of water is Kothamangalam River flowing nearby. After processing a large quantity of waste water is pumped out from different stages in the pulp mill and paper machine. This water contains chemicals and dyes, parts of pulp etc. If this is directly open out to the river, it may become polluted.
For running the factory consent from Kerala State Pollution Control Board is required and it should be renewed every year. The will check pollution levels of water and air periodically. According to their standards an Effluent Treatment Plant is set up to treat the water and to make it pure. There are two stages for ETP. At the first level left out pulp and fibers are removed in a special devise called Kraft. The water is then pumped to large
ETP tank oxidized to cultivate biomass. The purified water is reused in the Pulper along with some quantity of fresh water.
Quality Control:
A quality control department is working under works manager. There are two sections for this department. One main laboratory in near the finished goods godown to check the GSM, Strength, Formation, brightness and overall quality of finished product.
