3D Sensors to Allow Interaction with Computers Without Touch
We have seen characters controlling a computer by simply moving his hands in front of the monitor. Scientists developed an image sensor that would allow consumers to interact with various devices a similar way. These new generation sensors are able to see in 3D. This can record the distance from the camera as well as recording the image. This could come into use in applications like tracking movements throughout 3D space and seeing pictures as 3D objects.
Video Games
Game manufacturers are expected to utilize this technology. Microsoft, already made a step towards the no-touch interface(Project Natal). This one can also appear in smartphones, transforming the touch-screen technology into a no-touch one.
Outside and Inside Cars
The rear bumpers sensors could be replaced by these to signal drivers when they are close to hitting an object or a person.
