Abstracts: 1) Chocking of Sulfur Gun In DCDA process the granular sulfur is used to produce the sulfuric acid, sulfur in granular form is stored, which is feed in to melter by mechanically. In the melter high pressure steam is used for the melting the sulfur, when steam and sulfur feed reacted and some chemical reaction formed which is very exothermic reaction, then catalyst vanadium pentoxide is used for decreasing the reaction time and increase in reaction rate. The clean sulfur comes in to settling pit, in settling pit molten sulfur temperature is maintained, settling pit provides sulphur pump for transfer molten sulfur in furnace by sulfur gun. In between sulphur pump and sulphur gun the chocking of sulphur gun occur, due to temperature variation from melter to atmosphere, the sulphur is solidified in the sulphur gun and choked. Utilization of SO3 Gas In sulfuric acid plants the concerned exhaust gases are SO2, SO3 and Acid Mist. These pollutants need to be controlled by selection of proper catalyst, mist eliminators, scrubbing system SO3 gas from the converter is feed in to the 25 % oleum tower. SO3 gas is increase the concentration of the oleum from 25 % to 65 %. And remaining SO3 gas is feed in to the evaporator. From the oleum tower SO3 gas is feed in to the Alkali scrubber, where SO3 gas is increase the concentration of the Acid. SO3 gas librated from evaporator enters in to mist separator to remove mist. Valve is provided on outlet of mist separator & mist from mist separator is drained in 65 % OPT.
