INTRODUCTION
I have been undergoing the project semester training with Punjab P.W.D., B
& R Provincial Division No.1 Patiala with effect from 08.06.2015 F.N. I have been
deputed on the project of construction of ROB approaches of 10.5metre wide
carriageway Road Over Bridge (Excluding Railway portion) at level crossing No. 15-
C on Rajpura- Bathinda Section between Patiala and Daun Kalan (Near Patiala
Railway Station) on Northern Bypass Patiala under the mentorship of Er Daljit
Singh Bassi, Assistant Engineer PWD .This project is being constructed by M/s
Amarnath Aggarwal Construction Pvt. Ltd. SCO 10-11, Sector -2, Panchkula at a
cost of Rs 19.97 Crores (Lump Sum contract) in which the construction agency had
submitted the constructional design along with the design which were later on
checked and approved by PWD. Although the project was required to be completed
within 16 months after the starting date but due to delay in obtaining the site
clearance from Forest Department and also due to utility lines of Electricity,
Sewerage and Water Supply (of Diesel Locomotive Modernization works located in
the vicinity of site of ROB) passing underground at the site of ROB, the project is
behind the schedule and is likely to be completed by the end of this year.
The bills are submitted by the construction company to PWD for payment on
monthly basis.
The railway portion consisting of two spans of 18m and 37m along with
common piers are being constructed by Railways.
