INTRODUCTION
Frequency synthesizing with the method of Direct Digital Frequency Synthesizers (DDFS) has become easy from 1971 [Tierney et al. 1971]
Demand of digital based different signal frequency generation in Software Defined Radio (SDR) [Thabet et al. 2014], frequency hopping, and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers [Thabet et al. 2014]
Purity of phase generation from Numerically Controlled Oscillator (NCO) method has put the question to designers before they use
There is a need to identify and improve the spurious components for the programmed phase generation dynamically by controlling the dithering [Zimmerman et al. 1993] or Error Feedback (EF) techniques [Vankka, J. 1997]
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
To review the literature on spurious reduction techniques for NCO based frequency generation
To explore the design of spurious reduction blocks to incorporate it in GPS receiver for Carrier NCO and Code NCO
To implement and analyze spurious reduction blocks in Matlab
To integrate and analyze the impact of spurious reduction based GPS receiver for Carrier and Code NCOs during both Acquisition mode and Tracking mode in Matlab
The comparison of conventional GPS receiver with spurious reduction based GPS receiver for Carrier and Code NCOs will be carried out
Finally the implementation of spurious reduction block in FPGA and spurious detection block in Processor
