This is a simple and inexpensive "do-it-yourself" wave e nergy converter. It works with any type of waves located behind the surf. In lakes it requires to be of smaller height and bigger diameter. It can also be operated in small-flow rivers and can be driven by a lever driven by a wheel (Greek hammer). It can also be powered by a savonius type mill and will even produce ground-based power.
It is a retractable and flexible telescopic sleeve that propels an air mass every time its size is modified when being pushed from below due to the oscillation of the water and also absorbs the same amount of air when it recovers its original size. It is not affected by the increase or decrease of the tide because its size varies and is always supported on the surface.
It produces energy because the mass of air when exiting or reentering is done by a tube of smaller diameter than the device which produces an increase in the air velocity and drives a turbine of the type Wells that as it is connected to a generator it turns it and Produces electricity.
For example a small device of four meters in diameter with waves of only twenty (20 cm.) Centimeters in height will impel a volume of 2.5 m3 of air or 2,500 liters in less than a second and clear with bigger waves much more. This wave technology pushes air versus Wells turbine is called OWC and is extensively tested and running at the Motrico or Mutriku plant.
Se denomina convertidor de energia de las olas o Wave energy converter.
