The origin of APSRTC dates back to June 1932, when it was first established as a Nizam State Rail & Road Transport Department (NSR-RTD), a wing of the Nizam State Railway in the former state of Hyderabad, with 27 buses and 166 employees . During the last 77 years, there has been a constant growth of 27 to 17,792 buses with 426 bus stations, 127 warehouses and 790 bus shelters.
The buses of the Corporation cover 46.42 lakhs KMs. And they carry 69.75 lakhs people to their destinations every day. They connect 14,123 villages to all major cities in A.P which constitutes 95% of road transport. APSRTC operates in the city and Mofussil areas. Buses from the Corporation also head to major cities and towns in the neighboring states of Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Odisha.
The entire network is under the administrative control of 12 Regional Directors in 4 Zones. The APSRTC under the current name was established on January 11, 1958 in compliance with the Highway Transportation Corporations Act of 1950.
New system
In a separate press release, he said passes would be issued under the new system at Maddilapalem, the train station, Simhachalam, Kurmannapalem and Gajuwaka.
