MATLAB can be used for a medical imaging problem. Given an MRI, the first segment of the brain mass of the rest of the head, then determine the volume of the brain. Also compare the lots of gray and white matter present. This example was developed for seminars. It was also used for webinars for medical applications transmitted live on May 6, 2004. This package includes a MATLAB code and an MRI scan series consisting of 60 DICOM images. Note that this code is based on the other MATLAB Central submissions. Detailed references to these sources are included.
Medical imaging is the most challenging and emerging field today. MRI image processing is one of the part of this field. This article describes the proposed strategy for detecting and extracting brain tumor from MRI images of the patient's brain. This method incorporates some functions of noise elimination, segmentation and morphological operations that are the basic concepts of image processing. Tumor detection and removal of magnetic resonance imaging of the brain is performed using the MATLAB software.
Tumor is defined as the abnormal growth of tissues. Brain tumor is an abnormal mass of tissue in which cells grow and multiply uncontrollably, seemingly uncontrolled by the mechanisms that control normal cells. Brain tumors can be primary or metastatic, and either malignant or benign. The amastatic brain tumor is a cancer that has spread from the body to the brain. Epilepsy is a brain disorder in which groups of nerve cells, or neurons, in the brain sometimes signal abnormally. Neurons typically generate electrochemical impulses that affect other neurons, glands and muscles to produce human thoughts, feelings, and actions. In epilepsy, the normal pattern of neuronal activity becomes disturbed, causing strangulation, emotions and behaviours or sometimes seizures, muscle spasms and loss of consciousness . Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an advanced medical imaging technique used To produce high quality images of the parts contained in the human body is usually used MRI in the treatment of brain tumors, ankles and feet. From these high resolution images, we can obtain detailed anatomical information to examine the development of the human brain and to discover abnormalities. At present, there is a methodology to classify MR images, which are fuzzy methods, neural networks, atlas methods, knowledge techniques, shape methods, variation segmentation. MRI consists of T1-weighted images, weighted in T2 and PD (proton density) and processed by a system that integrates fuzzy The first processing of magnetic resonance imaging is the first step in the analysis of images that perform techniques of image improvement and Of noise reduction that are used to improve the image quality, then morphological operations are applied to detect the tumor in the image.
