The design and manufacture of the paper cutting machine using the Geneva mechanism is very useful for cutting papers in equal and exact dimensions. Geneva drive is an indexing mechanism that converts continuous motion into intermittent motion. Due to intermittent movement, the paper moves between the time intervals of the cut-off periods. The paper cut is then achieved by the crank mechanism and lever. The cutter will return to its original position due to the spring effect. The paper cutting machine is designed to reduce the marking and cutting time of the papers. Geneva Mechanism is commonly used indexing mechanism where intermittent movement is necessary. Making the conventional Geneva mechanism is generally simple and inexpensive. Because there is no special curved profile in any of the components except straight lines and circular arcs. The paper cut is made by means of crank mechanism and lever. After cutting, the spring attached to the cutter will return the cutter to its original position. The main purpose of this machine is to reduce the time to mark the papers. Therefore, this machine is working totally based on the synchronization.
Traditional hand lever cutting machine has disadvantages viz. Does not provide operator safety. It is not easy to use because every time the user has to adjust the paper to the desired cut position and hold the paper before taking the cut. It is a very time consuming and tedious process to take a job with different cut sizes so that such machine also work precision on this machine depends on the skills of the operators. A comparison of the position, speed, acceleration and pull between the classic mechanism of the wheel of Geneva and the proposed mechanism is presented. The movement of the pair of non-circular gears is determined by reducing the extreme pull of the Geneva wheel.
