Enterprise-Mobile (EMI) integration is a form of fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) that provides integration between communications companies and enterprise networks. There are three main aspects to EMI: database synchronization, enterprise messaging and Web services.
In synchronization of the database, the information is exchanged between one or more mobile databases and a single central database. This exchange facilitates the most efficient transfer of information from the data center to mobile devices. The amount of data transmitted is kept to a minimum by sending to each mobile device only the information required by it. Communications can be encrypted and carried out using any common protocol or performed through servers, firewalls or antimalware programs. In enterprise messaging, data is exchanged between devices that employ multiple communications technologies. Messages can be transmitted to the enterprise database from mobile devices as well as from the enterprise database to mobile devices. Web Services allows various applications to interact using HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) or Web Services Description Language (WSDL).
EMI offers several significant benefits. Each subscriber is assigned a unique unique work phone number that can be used from both fixed and mobile locations. This feature eliminates the need to review multiple voicemail systems or recall multiple phone numbers. The company can assume responsibility for the use and maintenance of accounts related to the work. If desired, separate personal numbers can be assigned for which users assume individual responsibility. Call routing allows users to make long distance calls without the need to dial cumbersome access numbers.
