The design consists of four main functional modules, namely; the GSM module, the decoding module, the control module and the switching module. The GSM module acts as a transmitting and receiving unit employing the use of a mobile telephone which serves as communication device between the user at one end and the access object (ie, the door) at the other receiving end. The decoding module and control module are made possible by modern integrated circuit chips which ensure proper conversion of the signal codes to binaries, allowing the microcontroller to communicate correctly with the switching device responsible for opening and closing the door. The codes for this project were written in assembler language with Visual Basic software and compiled with the M-IDE studio for MC-51compiler that work perfectly with the Windows XP environment, the program runs without error before recording it on the microcontroller using a device called the programmer by placing the microcontroller on it plug equal to the pin number.

This has brought with it the need to review the reliability of existing systems and explore the possibility of creating better systems that are smarter and more secure.
The microcontroller-based digital lock presented here is an access control system that only allows authorized persons access to a restricted area, this system is best suited for corporate offices, ATMs and home security. It consists of a small electronic unit which is fixed at the input port to control a solenoid operated lock with the aid of a stepper motor when an authorized person enters a predetermined user password through the global mobile communications keypad, the stepper motor is operated for a limited time to unlock the solenoid operated lock so that the door can be open. At the end of the preset delay time, the stepper motor is turned in reverse and the door is locked again. When the code has been entered incorrectly three times in a row, the code lock will switch to lock mode, this function will frustrate any attempt by hackers to quickly test a large number of codes in a sequence. If the user forgets his / her password, code blocking can be accessed using a single 8-digit administrator password and the secret code can be changed at any time after entering the current code (master code).
