Due to energy shortages and environmental pollution, renewable energy, especially wind power, has become more and more considerable all over the world. Direct-drive wind power conversion systems based on the multi-pole permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) have some advantages such as no gearbox, high power density, high accuracy and easy to control. A large circulation current flows into the converter, but only a small part of the current caused by the converter losses flows into the network. The method can save a lot of energy when the converter is tested and the experiment can be done on the micro-grid. The method can test the main stage, drive the circuit, protect the circuit and some parts of the control circuit. This work presents the modeling and control scheme of the efficient experimental method, as well as the control scheme of the network side converter. Some differences caused by sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) and spatial vector modulation (SVM) in the method have been analyzed.
